Falmouth Racketball Championships 2026

The Falmouth Racketball Championships returned in style this year, marking the first time the event has been held since 2018. It was fantastic to see the competition back on the calendar, with strong participation and plenty of high-quality matches throughout the tournament.

A total of 18 players entered the main event, with competitors battling through a series of closely contested matches to reach the finals.

In the Main Event Final, Jonny Newton claimed the title with an impressive performance against Rory Brickell. The victory was particularly notable as Jonny also won the last edition of the championships back in 2018, making it a successful return for the defending champion. He took the victory 3-2, with over an hour’s play on the court!

In the Women’s Event, national Ladies O60’s champion, Liz Arnell, secured the championship title, finishing ahead of runner-up Charlie Whipp. Charlie has recent taking up the sport – joining the Sunday evening Ladie’s Squash Night this year.

The Plate Competition provided another competitive draw, with Kai Savage taking the title after defeating Martin Jordan in the final

The tournament also featured a Doubles Event, with five pairings taking part. Alan Thomas and Sam Chedzoy emerged as champions after a great final against Kai Savage and Kevin Marshall, who finished as runners-up. There was a round-robin event on the Saturday to decide the finalists.

A big thank you goes to Karakal for supporting the event by providing the prizes, and to everyone who took part and helped make the championships such an enjoyable and competitive occasion. It was fantastic to see the courts busy and the racketball community come together again for the return of this event. Cheers to Jon for creating the event structure, and Alan + Billy for staffing the bar.

Congratulations to all the winners and finalists, and we look forward to seeing the championships continue to grow in the coming years.

Matt – Lead Squash Coach.
