After a cracking weekend of squash at the Cornwall Masters Champs 2025 – brilliantly hosted by Truro Squash Club – we’re thrilled to share some fantastic news for Falmouth Squash!
🏆 Dave Restorick Crowned O50s Champion
Our very own Dave Restorick stormed to victory in the prestigious O50s final. Up against fellow club member and dedicated junior coach Henry Swanzy, Dave sealed the match 3–0.
Despite the scoreline, spectators were treated to some long, tactical rallies and outstanding shot-making from both players. Dave was simply too strong on the day and fully deserving of the title.
🥈 Silver for Martin Jordan in the O70s
A huge shoutout as well to Martin Jordan, who brought home silver after finishing runner-up in the O70s event. Martin faced England player Dave Matthew (Truro SC) in the final and did the club proud with a fighting performance.
👏 Semi-Finalists Flying the Falmouth Flag
We also had a brilliant showing across the age groups, with several players reaching the semi-finals:
-
Jonny Newton – O35s
-
Matt Stone – O35s
-
Huw Gibbon – O45s
-
John Ross – O50s and O55s
Fantastic efforts all round!
Thank You to Everyone Who Made It Happen
A weekend like this doesn’t happen without a huge team effort. Massive appreciation to:
👏 Brian – once again delivering a superbly organised tournament with a brilliant turnout. Not a hitch in sight! (Enjoy the port… you’ve earned it!)
🍻 Truro Squash & Leisure Club and all the staff for looking after us throughout the weekend.
🏆 Mike & Diane Morgan (DAM Civil Engineering Ltd) for sponsoring the event and supplying the trophies.
💪 All the players and supporters whose energy and enthusiasm lit up the courts from start to finish.
