Well done to the 22 players who took part in the second installment of our Women’s Social Squash Tournaments (9 play at Falmouth!).
Held at Truro Squash & Leisure Club, the day had a fantastic atmosphere, bringing together female players from across the region. With competitors divided into three groups, there was plenty of high-quality squash on display, along with clear progress and improvement since the last event.
A big thank you to Karakal Worldwide and Ridgeline Studio for their continued support, as well as the England Squash Community Fund for helping make the event possible.
A special mention goes to Abbie, the only junior in the line-up, who delivered an outstanding performance to take the Group B title.
While it’s always great to celebrate the winners, the event is about much more than results. It’s about encouraging more women to get involved in a sport that has traditionally had a much larger male presence—and creating space for players to enjoy time for themselves.
The feedback so far has been fantastic, and a turnout of 22 players is something rarely seen in recent years for squash in Cornwall. One participant summed it up perfectly:
“We spend 99% of our time doing things for others—work, family, and so on—and it’s so rare we get time to do something just for ourselves. So thank you for the opportunity to have a fun day.”
